Introduction

 

The Equipment Rental Scheme (ERS) provides patients with serious illnesses who have a prognosis of less than a year with subsidised rental equipment they need to be cared for at home.

 

What is covered under this scheme?

 

The ERS subsidies covers the following:

  • Hospital bed
  • Oxygen concentrator
  • Pressure relief mattress
  • Wheelchair or pushchair

How to qualify

 

There are a few criteria your loved one will need to meet to qualify for ERS.

Care recipient’s nationality
  • He/ she must be a Singapore Citizen or PR.
Care recipient’s needs

He/ she has been:

  • Diagnosed to have a serious illness with a prognosis of less than a year.
  • Assessed by a qualified assessor to require the item needed.
Care recipient’s eligibility for other schemes
  • He/ she must not be receiving subsidies for the same or similar equipment through other government assistance schemes.

 

If he/she had previously received government assistance for same or similar type of equipment, his/ her ERS application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

 

How the subsidy works

 

If approved, ERS will fund up to 80% of the cost of the equipment rental cost.

 

The amount of subsidy you receive will depend on your means-test result*. This also means there will be an amount you will need to co-pay for your rental.

How to apply

 

You can approach the care provider (eg public or community hospital, home palliative care provider or national specialty centre) caring for your loved one.

The care team will help you apply for ERS and place rental equipment orders with approved suppliers.
