Introduction

 

The Medical Fee Exemption Card (MFEC) helps to provide subsidised standard medical treatment at government or restructured hospitals, polyclinics and approved Community Care Services.

 

How to qualify

 

There are a few criteria your loved one will need to meet to qualify for MFEC.

Criteria Description
Care recipient’s nationality

He/ she must be one of the following:

  • Singapore Citizen or PR
  • Stateless person with documents from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority to prove you are not an illegal immigrant.
Care recipient’s residence

He/ she must be a subsidised resident living in one of the following MOH-funded institutions:

  • Nursing home, Chronic Sick Unit or Inpatient Hospice Palliative Care Service
Care recipient’s financial status

He/ she must meet the means-test criteria for MFEC:

  • Family monthly income per person must be $800 or less.

    AND

  • Savings of $6,000 and less.

 

How to apply

 

You can approach the medical social worker in the institution your loved one is staying in. They will help your loved one to apply for the card.
