Health and Wellness (H&W) Courses

Overview

Health & Wellness (H&W) courses are active ageing programmes which help seniors age well through learning about health and wellness. Offered by AIC through appointed course providers, they help seniors build health literacy, manage their health with confidence, and age well through learning at Active Ageing Centres (AACs).

As an AAC, you can choose from close to 200 H&W courses to offer your seniors. These courses are fully subsidised for eligible Singapore Citizens and PRs aged 60 and above.

By offering these courses at your AAC, more seniors can increase their health knowledge, confidently navigate their health journey, and age well within their communities.

How it works

You can reach out to the appointed course providers directly to bring H&W courses to your AAC.

  1. Search for a H&W course via the listing here.
  2. Contact the course provider using the contact details provided.
  3. Engage with them directly to confirm the course details.

Please take note of the course description, session learning outcomes, course providers’ contact details, and the minimum number of participants required for the commencement of each course.

The venue and basic course facilities required should be provided by the AAC, unless agreed with the course provider. The AAC will also manage the recruitment and registration of eligible participants.

What are the topics?

H&W courses help participants learn more about their health across 3 domains: physical health, mental health, and health management and care.

  • Physical health
Participants will learn more about their body, how they function, and how basic health principles and preventive health knowledge can help them improve their health as they age. They will also understand more about human body functions, nutrition, ageing, early detection and risk reduction strategies. Topics can also include bone and muscle health and nutrition and dietary science.

  • Mental health
Participants will learn more about mental wellness, and how they can be proactive in improving their mental well-being. They will gain techniques to build good mental health and emotional resilience. Topics include mental health awareness and recognition, as well as psychological resilience.

  • Health management and care
Participants will learn helpful practical skills to manage their health through the usage of health monitoring devices, understanding medical systems, coordination with healthcare providers, and provision of care for others. Topics include caregiving competencies, as well as support/planning for end-of-life.

FAQs

AACs can accept participants into the H&W courses based on their internal practice and priorities. Course providers may claim funding from AIC only for eligible participants who are Singapore Citizens or PRs aged 60 and above.

Each course may consist of single or multiple sessions. The duration of each session ranges from 1 to 2 hours.

These courses are offered fully subsidised for eligible participants. Course providers may charge for non-eligible participants, but they would need to inform the AACs upfront and discuss the fees and payment process.

Participants can approach the AACs to enquire about course registration. AACs will recruit and register participants using their existing recruitment/registration channels.

The H&W course providers are encouraged to deliver the courses at AACs for the convenience of the seniors who frequent the centres. AACs are advised to confirm the venue arrangements with the respective course providers before opening the courses for registration.

Yes. AACs can discuss with the course provider to run the same course again if the response is good.

Depending on the circumstances, AACs can discuss alternative options with course providers nearer to the course commencement date. Options could include rescheduling the course or combining participants from nearby AACs into one course run. Course providers have the discretion to proceed or cancel the course.

You can refer to the H&W Course Catalogue for each course session’s minimum number of participants required to confirm.

AACs can engage the course providers to deliver the courses between October 2026 to March 2028. The availability of a course depends on how quickly AACs are taking up the courses runs, and the capacity of the respective providers to offer multiple runs.

Courses may be conducted in English, Mandarin, or both, depending on the course providers. AACs should check with the respective provider on the languages available. For courses conducted only in one language, AACs may wish to check if the trainers are bilingual based on your seniors’ profile and preferences.

AACs should provide basic course facilities such as tables, chairs, and a projector or screen for presentations. Course materials and facilitation resources will typically be provided by the course providers. The providers will inform the AACs in advance if any other preparation is required.

No, there is no minimum number of courses or sessions that an AAC is required to offer. However, we strongly encourage AACs to engage the course providers to organise as many courses as possible to improve your seniors’ health literacy so that they can better manage their physical and mental health.

AACs should contact the respective course provider for course-specific queries. For programme matters, AACs may reach out to AIC at hwlearning@aic.sg for further clarification.
