Automated shower system

The traditional care role relies upon a highly manual and time-consuming showering process, which requires 2 staff members at a time to assist with trolley showers.

Summary of observation findings:

• At least 92% of residents need assistance during showers
• 20% to 25% of residents require the use of a shower trolley
• Trolley showers take an average of 12 minutes per resident

*Findings were based on data from 3 CCOs covered during the work trial.

The utilisation of an automated shower system can reduce these inefficiencies towards the Care staff and enhance senior experience.

The desired outcomes include:

• Reduced time taken for showers
• Reduced number of staff required during showers
• Enhanced senior experience (increased privacy)

An automated shower system was implemented independently by Ren Ci Community Hospital which revealed the following findings:

• Estimated 60% reduction in the overall time taken for showers
• Enhanced senior experience as they had more time for recreational activities
