Introduction

Medical escort and transport (MET) is a service that helps clients get to and from their medical appointments and treatment at hospitals, specialist clinics, or polyclinics. It also provides someone to accompany them if needed.

Who is this service for

This service is for people who:

  • Have difficulty moving around on their own
  • Do not have a caregiver to help them
  • Have a caregiver who is unable to assist due to their own health or physical conditions

Services provided

  • Transport: Provide suitable transport options, such as wheelchair-accessible vehicles, to bring clients to and from their medical appointments.
  • Medical escort service: An escort (person) will accompany the client during the appointment and help with navigation within the hospital.

Depending on your loved one’s needs, they might require one or both services.

To find MET service providers near you, search this map using a postal code, address or your device’s current location.

Cost

The cost of each round trip starts from $40, before any government subsidies. The final cost depends on the type of service used (eg transport only, or both escort and transport)

To qualify for subsidies, your loved one will need to be a Singapore Citizen or PR. Subsidies are also means-tested (ie there is an income criteria).

You may also talk to a medical social worker at the hospital or polyclinic if you need help with the fees.

How to apply

Talk to your doctor at the hospital or polyclinic. They can help submit the application online.

FAQs

Household monthly income per person is the criteria used when there is a household income. (“Household” refers to the NRIC address)

It is calculated as the total gross household monthly income divided by the total number of family members living together in the household. Gross monthly household income includes basic employment income, trade/self-employed income, overtime pay, allowances, cash awards, commissions, and bonuses.

When there is no household income, Annual Value (AV) is used instead. AV is the estimated gross annual rent of a property if it were to be rented out, excluding furnishings and maintenance fees. It is determined by IRAS, and may be checked via IRAS website. Subsidy levels in 2026 will be determined using 2025 Annual Values.
